The federal government is providing 3 billion euros for this, with the federal states contributing a further 1.3 billion euros. This enables hospitals to invest in future-oriented emergency capacities, digitalization projects and IT security. In this context, 15 percent of the funding must be used to improve information security.
Even if the Hospital Future Act makes it easier to invest in modern technology, this is only the beginning. Only when management and IT break new ground and initiate a large number of far-reaching innovations can digitalization become an economic success that benefits hospitals, patients and employees alike.
