Added value for the customer
Management Summary
With its broad portfolio of digital signage solutions, IT-HAUS offers systems for every application. The eye-catcher in the reception area of the Reifenhäuser headquarters in Troisdorf is now an ultra-high-resolution 110-inch display, which has replaced the technically outdated video wall and can also be used as an excellent presentation medium with the help of a wireless conference system.
"IT-HAUS was the ideal partner for us to replace the technically outdated video wall. The team from IT-HAUS planned, delivered and installed a video wall with sound system that meets today's and our requirements in every respect. We would like to express our thanks for the excellent cooperation, which was supported by customer-oriented communication"
Project environment
When you enter the foyer of the Reifenhäuser administration building in Troisdorf, your gaze falls on a video wall approximately 2.50 meters wide and 1.50 meters high at eye level. This informs visitors in the reception area with either the latest news or image films from the group of companies. Initially, a solution consisting of two 60-inch displays and a soundbar was used here - mounted using steel struts and embedded in a rear wooden wall that separates the foyer from the adjoining room. This in turn housed the associated technology: a digital satellite receiver to feed in the wireless signal and an HDMI cable to manually load the video wall with content if required. As the displays had lost their brightness over time, Reifenhäuser was looking for a replacement in the form of a UHD-capable solution with uncomplicated control and integrated audio components to be able to welcome groups of visitors of up to 20 people with a multimedia presentation. The company turned to its long-standing IT partner, IT-HAUS GmbH from Föhren, for advice. IT-HAUS had recently equipped the customer's meeting rooms with state-of-the-art video conferencing technology, demonstrating its expertise in the planning, development and implementation of modern presentation solutions.
Project success
Continuing to use the existing recess in the wall proved to be a challenge: while 60-inch displays are no longer manufactured, 55-inch devices would have been far too small here. As an alternative, the experts at IT-HAUS suggested the only 110-inch display on the market to date: a 16:9 display from LG's UM5J series. This has the decisive advantage that the image is not interrupted by bars as before. Its brightness of 500 cd/m² and the Ultra HD resolution, which offers four times the picture quality of Full HD, also ensure that content is displayed sharply, even in light-flooded foyers. In addition, the digital signage display has an IPS panel so that the content can still be easily recognized even when viewed from the side. The device, which is designed for 16/7 continuous operation with intelligent automatic switch-on and switch-off, measures 2,474 x 1,408 x 99 millimetres and can therefore be easily fitted in its usual place. The remaining opening is concealed by a wooden frame covered with acoustic fabric, which was custom-made by a joinery on behalf of the customer. As a result, the new solution blends harmoniously and unobtrusively into the reception area and supports the company's modern image. The LG Remote Controller makes it easy to operate end devices connected via HDMI. In addition, the customer can share content quickly and easily using the wireless presentation solution ClickShare from the manufacturer Barco, without having to enter the technical room. This is done via the so-called ClickShare Button, which is connected to the notebook or other mobile device via USB. As soon as the associated plug-and-play software is started, all you have to do is press the button to transfer your own screen to the display. The audio system configured together with the manufacturer's partner AUDAC ensures optimum sound, consisting of two line speakers mounted on the side of the display and completely concealed by the acoustic fabric, as well as a subwoofer. The system is connected to the headphone socket via an Aux cable so that the volume can also be controlled via the LG remote control. The on-site installation was carried out by two employees from IT-HAUS Field Service in close cooperation with a colleague from the Reifenhäuser metal production department at
. As a conventional wall bracket was not an option for the 80-kilo device, they worked together to develop a customized, custom-fit mounting solution. They installed this in the same breath as dismantling the previous video wall, ensuring a seamless transition within one working day.
