Management Summary

Companies that deliberately choose not to have their own IT and instead prefer to focus on more important tasks outsource their IT management to an external partner and obtain everything they need "as a service" from the cloud. Project environment

On November 1, 2023, the former partners of the Cowen Europe Group took over the continental European investment banking business of TD Cowen and will continue to run the business as an independent company under the name Pava Partners. The task of supporting the spin-off in setting up its independent IT was the responsibility of IT-HAUS GmbH .

However, the Föhren team did not have much time to do this. Rene Jung, Team Lead Professional Services at IT-HAUS, recalls: "We had very little time when we were asked to implement the spin-off from Pava Partners by November 1. At the time, we knew nothing more than that it involved a total of 50 employees at four German locations. So we talked roughly about the scope, drew up an offer on the same day and were commissioned within 48 hours. "An essential part of the comprehensive IT-HAUS service concept concerned the network infrastructure: in addition to the configuration and commissioning of the routers and firewalls, on-site support for connecting the devices at all German locations, the configuration and commissioning of the switches and WLAN coverage at the various locations were also included from the outset. However, the whole thing turned out to be more complex than expected: "We had to set up a completely new infrastructure across several locations, including the servers operated in the cloud for the CRM system developed by the customer itself."

Multiple locations, no in-house IT and a tight timeframe - it was therefore obvious to pursue a consistent "cloud first" approach when it came to the network. In other words, the customer should primarily obtain its entire IT infrastructure, including all network services, from the cloud and only fall back on on-premises resources if absolutely necessary. With the Network as a Service (NaaS) model, both the planning and provisioning as well as the day-to-day operational management of the network, including software upgrades, monitoring and troubleshooting, and

decommissioning and end-of-life support are outsourced and placed in the hands of an external service provider. By replacing physical networks with virtual networks that can be created, configured and managed in the cloud, much of the previous maintenance and administration work is also eliminated.

Project success

HPE GreenLake for Networking (formerly HPE GreenLake for Aruba) is a flexible NaaS solution for accelerating business outcomes, delivered to customers through IT-HAUS as an HPE Aruba Networking channel partner. HPE GreenLake for Networking simplifies both network lifecycle management and budgeting by combining HPE Aruba Networking hardware, software and services into a single, comprehensive monthly subscription with no upfront investment required. The flexible model also gives customers the ability to add or cancel devices or locations as needed at any time.

In addition to the subscription, the solution includes Customer Experience Management (CEM), a service that goes beyond support and provides digital insights and solution expertise to continuously analyze and evaluate the customer environment in order to optimize network performance and security. Pava Partners benefits from the all-round carefree package offered by IT-HAUS GmbH : "For a fixed monthly fee, we take responsibility for the smooth operation of the network and WLAN infrastructure," explains Rene Jung. "The customer only has to tell us in which offices, over which area and at which address they need WLAN and how many network ports. We take care of everything else."

Another advantage of the as-a-service model: as the customer's network is proactively monitored around the clock, problems can usually be resolved before end users are affected. This also includes hardware replacement by IT-HAUS Field Service in the event of a repair, as Rene Jung explains: "In the event of a defect, we are informed and initiate the replacement, by the next working day at the latest."

Although predestined for large environments with many devices, SMEs also benefit from the customized NaaS concepts and enterprise technologies of IT-HAUS GmbH , as the example of Pava Partners shows: "While other companies struggle day after day with their non-functioning network," Rene Jung sums it up, "our customers get what top corporations work with at the same level of quality."
