Windows AutoPilot: Automatic deployment concept
Deutsche Reihenhaus AG develops and builds high-quality, well-designed residential parks. The Cologne-based company uses them to create livable living space at attractive house prices, even in inner-city areas - and makes a significant contribution to sustainable land revitalization. To date, more than 10,000 families have found a new home in around 300 residential parks across Germany. The Deutsche Reihenhaus team of around 250 people builds around 750 new residential units every year. The company specializes in three terraced house types with reduced variants and one multi-family house, which are built with industrial series precision. >> www.reihenhaus.de
Added value for the customer
Management Summary
Deutsche Reihenhaus AG pursued a cloud-oriented approach for the first time when renewing its computer fleet and found a suitable partner for the joint implementation in IT-HAUS GmbH . Instead of the time-consuming process of setting up the devices as was previously the case, this is done fully automatically and from any location using the Windows Autopilot deployment service in the cloud. This saves the customer time and money while reducing the burden on their IT in the long term. As part of the optimized procurement strategy, this also applies to future requirements, from notebooks to desktop PCs or an expansion of the device fleet.
"Thanks to the new procurement and implementation concept, we were able to drastically reduce our time and costs. We now only need around 30 minutes per client, whereas previously we had to spend around 5 hours of our resources on this. Another major advantage is the stocking of pre-configured devices at IT-HAUS. The devices are sent directly to our sites on demand and are ready for immediate use without long downtimes."
Project environment
Around 250 employees work for Deutsche Reihenhaus in Cologne, Kaiserslautern, Berlin, Hamburg, Nuremberg, Frankfurt and Bottrop. Under the motto "Everything from a single source", they build over 750 residential units throughout Germany every year. All planning and construction measures are prepared for the long term so that they can ultimately be completed in a streamlined manner. For this reason, Deutsche Reihenhaus attaches great importance to providing its employees at each location with workstations equipped with state-of-the-art hardware and software. Until now, however, the installation of new clients was laborious and time-consuming, as the administrators had to configure each device manually and individually for each user. The software licenses for Microsoft and Office were also procured separately and replaced individually with the respective successor version as required.
Project success
Deutsche Reihenhaus AG would like to replace notebooks and PCs in its existing computer fleet as quickly and cost-effectively as possible. On the hardware side, for example, the device classes were to be consolidated and selected according to requirements. In addition, the switch to rental licenses should enable software savings and centralize and simplify administration. For the rollout of the new devices, IT-HAUS enabled the customer to adopt a cloud-oriented approach: Using the innovative deployment feature Windows Autopilot, a zero-touch self-service deployment platform, automated pre-configuration and installation of the computer as well as registration via the cloud takes place directly after initial activation. The device can then be put into operation immediately. This means that the IT staff at Deutsche Reihenhaus AG do not need any infrastructure to manage for the setup and pre-configuration of new hardware. The rollout at the customer's premises follows a standardized process: configuration adjustments, applications and other settings are provided via the cloud management platform Intune at the first start. The manufacturer enters the respective device ID in the customer account so that the administrator can assign each device to a specific user. As soon as the employee starts the new device for the first time and connects it to the internet, the scheduled refueling takes place automatically. Deutsche Reihenhaus uses Microsoft 365 as a complete solution. This saves the customer time and money, while reducing the burden on their IT in the long term. And with IT-HAUS as a strong partner, it is also ideally equipped for its future requirements - be it notebooks or desktop PCs. In the foreseeable future, the fleet of devices will also be expanded to include particularly powerful workstations that allow the visualization of entire residential parks.
