Management Summary

A customized complete package of hardware, software, rollout and individual services enables the approximately 1,400 employees of Canyon Bicycles to print securely and carefree. In addition to the procurement of consumables, the transparent and automated service concept of IT-HAUS GmbH also regulates the service and maintenance of the systems. This not only relieves the customer's IT administration, but also reduces operating costs for the entire fleet.

Project environment

This raised the question of a competent provider for the implementation of a new printer fleet. Canyon Bicycles was already familiar with IT-HAUS GmbH , having worked together very well for many years in other IT areas. A modern fleet concept with full service and the integration of office and label printers was required.

Due to the structure of the company, the tender required not only office printers, but also high-performance label printers for the logistics equipment. All bikes are assembled in Koblenz and also shipped from there through direct sales, so that a continuous flow of goods must be guaranteed. A secure print concept should also be included.

For example, IT-HAUS developed a comprehensive MPS concept for Canyon involving the manufacturers HP for printers in the office environment and Zebra for label printers in the logistics sector. While HP covers all device types in the office sector, Zebra is a specialist supplier of label printers that stands for quality and performance.

Project success

The printers in logistics in particular, which have to reliably print a large number of labels every day so as not to interrupt the shipping line, were an important element of the order. In this respect, it was very important for Canyon Bicycles that IT-HAUS is not only a Zebra Premier Business Partner and has therefore demonstrated its knowledge of the products, but can also score points as a Printer Repair Specialist. As an authorized service partner, IT-HAUS repairs and maintains the systems on site, guaranteeing that the devices remain fully functional and preventing any interruption to operational processes. In the case of Canyon, a technician is on site once a month for maintenance.

The high-performance HP printers were specifically selected for the respective application and guarantee trouble-free operation thanks to their reliability. The majority of the fleet consists of MFP devices; individual workstations, such as at the customer counter, are equipped with LaserJets.

The MPS contract was concluded for a term of five years and guarantees proactive maintenance of the HP printers in addition to the monthly maintenance service for Zebra.

Software

In addition, the integration of OneDrive Business and Teams allows employees to scan and print personal documents securely and quickly.

Canyon Bicycles' Apple MacBooks, which are mainly used in the construction and design department, are also integrated into the MyQ security concept. This means that secure printing is also possible for these devices.

Certification management runs via the HP Security Manager, which also automatically closes all security gaps.

The printing environment is monitored centrally using the FMAudit fleet monitoring tool installed at the customer's premises - a solution from the manufacturer ECI Software Solutions that records all relevant data from the existing systems. Daily meter readings are automatically transmitted and an automated toner requirement notification is sent to IT-HAUS as soon as the toner level falls below a defined threshold. The software also uses an encrypted connection to automatically inform you of any faults so that IT-HAUS , as a service partner, can take quick and targeted action if necessary. Both HP and Zebra printers can be integrated into this monitoring system.
